Ceip Ciudad de Mérida

We are a school located in the south west of Spain in a town called Mérida, the capital of the region. This town was founded in 25 BC, with the name of Emerita Augusta, it is a very special and cultural enrich place as its Archaeological Ensemble has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1993

Our school is very new - only 6 years old- and we are a state bilingual school this means our students receive subjects in both languages English and Spanish. We have over 450 pupils aged from 3 to 12 years old and 32 teachers.. We emphasize the importance of learning languages from the very beginning especially English due to its potential value. The context where our school is based is medium-high social class families.

In general terms, all educative communicate is concern with the importance of promoting a healthy lifestyle among our students, also our government is. Every year all schools in our region take part in “Fruit program” where students receive fruits for free as snacks for break time.

We also highlight the importance of developing an active life through sports, we participate in races for funding money for people from non-developed countries, we celebrate “bike’s day” When we all come to school by bicycles and then we cycle around the city, play after school sports which are free for children and in addition to this we also work on a teaching method known as DOMAN (at early stages, from 3 to 6 years old) that consist of doing a set of daily trainning and series of “intelligence bits” as inputs so that students can benefit from exercising and improve their reading and writing process.
